Saddle Mt. - A Wet and Windy 2/27/10

Post by Narrow Urethra » March 1st, 2010, 11:07 am

My friend and I hoped for some break in the weather once we got to the trail, but alas, the weather gods decided against that.

-Trail through the forest was very nice (especially running downhill).

-Hiking uphill on the metal fencing that covers the trail on the upper portions can prove to be slippery when wet.

-Standing on the summit is not quite the same feeling when visibility is around 20 feet and winds are a sustained 30 mph.

-Wanted to take pictures but water and DSLR cameras dont mix.

But I did break in my new boots, Columbia Daska Pass. They did feel a bit narrow when I was driving, but felt great on the trail. Not really sure how that works but I will take it.

Lets hope for a sunny weekend cause Larch Mt. here I come.

Maybe it's just because I'm currently finishing a full year of Anatomy/Physiology and just took a test over the urinary system, but I [heart] your screen name.

I was the one on 2-14-10 trip you posted about. There was nothing narrow about the flow of liquid coming down the trail that morning. It was for a long section like hiking up a creek with small water falls. We were all Leary about the chain link fence over the trail and the water.
We all had runners on but on the way down we did not slip and did really well.
I can not imagine this icy though, that would have to be slick.
