Greg and I did a quick jaunt up the Eagle Creek trail on Saturday. We we were pleased to see that there were still many spawning salmon in the creek near the trailhead. (There were also signs at the trailhead warning people not to throw rocks or poke at the salmon. People do that?????)
Colors along the trail were nice, although MANY leaves were already on the ground.
After all the rain we've had, Metlako Falls was really gushing:
Greg waded out in the creek to see what the view of Punch Bowl Falls is like.
The unfortunate branch is still there. We laughed that this is Mother Nature's way of giving the finger to every photographer who comes here.
Greg's branch-free shot from above:
We didn't see many people on the hike in since we got there pretty early. But it was a different story on the way out. Amazingly enough only three of the dozen or so dogs we saw were off-leash. It was the highest proportion of on-leash to off-leash dogs I've ever seen on a hike. Maybe people are finally getting the message?

Is yellow the new green? Nice color/lighting on that section of trail near the Metlako Falls OL.

my question is the operation at Eagle Kreek just passing salmon loose? Remember before big water euent 1996...they release spawn early... due to fund shortage..

Wow, amazing on how many salmon there are right now. Just about a month ago there were more dead than alive salmon. Great pictures...including "the bird" one. Thanks for sharing.

Glad to know some made it. I was up there on 10/11 and got this...
Maybe they'll still be some on Tuesday?
