Hillmap is awesome BTW Koda!! Much thanks in turning me onto that one :)

That's how I drew my most recent track idea and using Goog Sat imagery while
drawing...

no, not bumping it. I was testing another (different) idea and thought why start another thread. (this specific thread is older than my request to imbed Hillmap thread)

Glad you like it :) Yeah, I really like Hillmap. I've tried the others and got results here and there but not everything, and some things I just can't figure out... they seem overly complicated. Hillmap is so easy and the background layering is super cool, side by side or on top of each other with transparency. I'd like to see the Hillmap EG profile graph improved a bit...

thank the developer, he is quick to reply to emails and ideas... its a really useful application.

Oops, just realized I actually was using http://www.gpsies.com/createTrack.do to make
my track for my last hike. But I think Hillmap also can create and export tracks, but will
check to verify :)

I like GPSies too, better for storing trip data and analyzing EG etc. I think you like GPSFly (IIRC) which does that too.

Hillmap creates and exports tracks very easily actually, much easier than any other application I've tried IMO.

have fun :)

Actually I kind of ditched GPS fly of late in lieu of Gpsies and Hillmap! :)

whats interesting is I was playing with my gpsies account and noticed they changed the map layers to only use open source map layers.... which is cool and all but the detail of GPL maps is not ideal and they used to offer Google Terrain layers. I like GPSies and GPSfly because they give the best EG charts and track analysis IMO, between the two I haven't decided to make one a "home" for this purpose. (I love Hillmap for all it does but the EG chart/analysis tool does not work).

So while I continue to explore both options I can't help but ask what made you switch? ...I don't see an option to edit or smooth (simplify) track points in GPSfly?
