Hood River is expecting mid-70's and sunny skies this weekend, but is it too soon in the season to be heading up to the Vista Ridge Trailhead. I want to check out the view of Mt. Hood from Owl Point, but if the ground conditions are still in early-spring/winter mode, then I will find somewhere else to hike.
What kind of conditions should I expect for this weekend?

Check the Red Hill Snotel, which is in that area: http://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/nwcc/plot? ... =WATERYEAR
The dark red line is precip for the water year and the dark blue line is snow water equivalent (the amount of water in the snowpack). At this time of year and with the recent warm weather, I would guess that the snow depth is about double the depth of the snow water equivalent (i.e. the snowpack is ~50% water). The light red and blue lines are the averages for the water years 1981-2010.
It's gonna be a while yet!
Also, see this report just in: http://www.portlandhikers.org/forum/vie ... =9&t=18583

Thank you for the feedback! This seems like a good mid-July trek instead.
