Mt. Adams- Stagman Ridge TH Road Conditions?

Post by Naturebat » July 25th, 2014, 2:03 pm

I am planning a hike to The Bumper on Mount Adams, passing through Horseshoe Meadow.

How is the road conditions up to the Stagman Ridge TH from FR 23? Will a 2WD car make it up there? If not, then I guess I'll just take the PCT to the Round the Mountain Trail instead.

Also, does anyone have any recommendations on the best way to hike off trail to The Bumper? I'm not entirely sure where to leave the RTM Trail. A gps track would be nice, too.

Thanks guys! :)

As of last summer the road to the Stagman Ridge TH was just fine.
Good gravel road.
No issues.

FYI - The forest at the upper end of the Stagman Ridge Trail, Horseshoe Meadows, and Lookingglass Lake were consumed by the 2010 Cascade Creek fire. The lower end of the trail has patches of burn. Not nearly as pretty as it once was. Don't know if the burn got as far as The Bumper.
