I hadn't been to Jefferson Park in a number of years so a friend and I headed out last Sunday for a couple of nights (7 25 2010). Not many cars in the parking lot and we soon found out why: a lot of snow and a huge number of mosquitoes. Oh well. A few snow patches in the first mile or so, a number of larger patches before the pass near Pyramid Butte; then larger fields appear and the ridge itself mostly covered. The trail was easy to follow, but heavy cloud cover could make it difficult. There were open sites on the ridge, but we camped at Sprague Lake, which was only a blue melt pond in the snow. It was quite warm, little wind and we donated quite a bit of blood to the voracious clouds of bugs. We passed on the park and toured higher elevations, where we could find a few moments of sanity in the afternoon breeze. Very few flowers, but awesome views. I love this place, one of my favorites, but was denied fields of flowers and a wonderful swim in any of the lakes. I'd wait a couple of weeks for summer too really develop there. Hope this helps anyone thinking of heading up there...

Hey Alan (welcome!)
Thanks for that report! I was out at Olallie a few weeks back and experiences the same clouds of mosquitos. Thanks for the up-to-date info. Have any more photos?
