That was fun! My legs did not get tired, my beer was cold & my feet warm. Thank you for sharing :)

Nice vid, Fred -- very Blair Witch when you ALMOST peeked into the log shelter, then abruptly pulled back... ooooo!!! :o  :?

Cruel of you to save the money shot for the end...

...but nice when you finally got to it! ;)

So, this little knob/ridge:

Is it the one that I've marked on this map?

I've been meaning to check that spot out (in summer). Bravo, Fred & Thomas -- uberbuff, as always!

Tom :)

Oh, boy, that was nice! I loved the way Thomas's beard glows like a lantern in those dimly lit forests, the roar of the wind at the top (so soothing,) and that delightful crunch of snow during the descent. I admit to jumping forward over the Blair Witch moments; that jerky motion had my lunch jumping around in my stomach! (glurg)

That's exactly the right spot. I did not say what the location was, but tried to film distinctive areas to provide clues so that someone who had been there before could recognize it. Good call in your case not having been there before. Good place to visit in summer, as you say.

Thanks, Fred. I'm also impressed that you and Thomas stomped straight up the south face of Chinidere..! That's steep, with a few significant drop-offs along the way..!

Fred, I think I followed your footsteps for a while this past Saturday (including up Chinidere). I went south along the PCT to Wahtum Lake then back north along Eagle Creek. If I had to guess, I'd say you went up the PCT and down the Herman Creek Trail. Am I close?

After I left your trail, I had quite a time following the PCT around Wahtum. Lots of bushwacking along the shore.

hikeyeah:

Yes, that's right, we went down Herman Creek. We found difficult going on the eastern side. Very deep snow. Much deeper than seemed possible given the conditions everywhere else. Have some theories about why that might be. The prevailing winds will dump the most snow on the lee side of the ridge, but it seems like there must be something more involved. Didn't expect to see Wahtum Lake all covered in snow either.
