Somebody recently asked about getting to snow on Mt Adams and I suggested this hike. Today I decided I should take my own advice.
FR 8225 is pretty muddy and rutted. The Subie did fine but it's kind of hard to know how 2WD cars would do on those muddy hills. There were occasional patches of ice as well, but mud is the only real issue. There were a lot of large trees down across the trail due to the Cold Springs fire. It is slow going but improves as you get higher.
I got out of the inversion right at the trailhead where there were just a few patches of snow here and there at 3800'
After some patchy ice on the trail near the trailhead, you get more reliably above the inversion zone and there was no snow
It wasn't too long till I was able to look down south on the inversion
And west to Indian Heaven
The snowshoes went on at about 4800 feet just before the Pineway trail junction
I continued for a while till a found a nice melted out high point with a view.

Nice! It was great out today!
I think I was on one of those bumps above the clouds below Mt. Hood!
