On Sat, Jan 24, 2015, I set out to climb Mt. Defiance as many times as possible in 24h. The announcement of the challenge can be found here: http://www.teuscher.ch/aagaa/announceme ... -challenge.
I managed to do 5 climbs in 19h35min. There was not enough time in 24h for a 6th climb. Strava logged 49.1mi and 24,369ft of elevation gain: https://www.strava.com/activities/245974466/overview.
The legend says that PH member mayhem held the triple Defiance record before he disappeared from the hiking scene.

That's insane! I have never done that trail, and I know it would take way longer than your longest time that day.
What was your down time between getting to the base and heading back up?

How could it have only been 49 miles total? Isn't Defiance like 12 miles round-trip?

Dude you're a monster, CT! And a big inspiration for me and so many others!
This was my favorite part,
"After getting over the initial (over-)excitement, I got to the usual point at which you cannot possibly imagine doing this for as many times you thought you wanted to. Once you get over this mental barrier and accept the challenge as such, things generally flow better until you start to physically fall apart."

That has to be the craziest thing I've ever heard of! I'm no stranger to Mt. Defiance but I can't imagine doing it three times, much less five! Great job and great video!

Excellent! As Sean said, you are a monster!!
An observation: I've done this many times (never more than twice in a day - I'm not crazy... yet) and my GPS is very consistent on the route you took recording 10.96 miles RT from the Starvation parking lot to the summit's highest rock at the south of the summit area. Credit where credit is deserved, you must have done 54.8 miles, not 49.1. Either way, just awesome.

Amazing! I did the Defiance Loop (ridge/trail) the day after. Some of those foot prints must have been yours.
Well done!

Christof, I'm still amazed that you stop in the middle of these runs and set up your camera and then run back so you can run past it while it's filming!!
Your splits are pretty incredible. You only gained 61 minutes round trip on the fifth lap. That's absurd.
Congrats, man. I have no desire to ever do this!
Also, this is pretty great:

"I have no desire to ever do this"
I would stop halfway through the first lap and camp out.
Maybe at that lake, not at the radio towers.
