I would stop halfway through the first lap and camp out.

Maybe at that lake, not at the radio towers. :)
I'm with Retired Jerry on this one - I would camp out in the middle of the first lap and consider it a great day!

BUT this is why they say "hike your own hike"! I totally love hearing about all the adventures of those of you who pile on the miles/elevation, even if it isn't my cup of tea. It inspires me to push myself towards my goals, even if they are quite a bit more modest.

Congratulations!

50,000 vertical feet in a day may be more than most people in the US ever walk on the level in a day! That is also more vertical than I have heard of anyone doing previously on foot. Is it a record for either climbing or climbing and descending?

Congratulations on a feat well done. I hope your feet weren't.

It goes without saying that this awe inspiring performance is something I wouldn't even think of doing and couldn't do even if it did cross my mind. An amazing feat!

But, Sean, some of the dayhikes you've done - and certainly your astounding high mileage traverses of the Hatfield Trail - are in this same league! These are what encourage a mere mortal such as myself to keep hiking into my golden years (and beyound?)! :D

What, how much, did you eat and drink???

What kinds of foods and hydration keep you going????

You'd make a hell of a hiking partner!!!!

That is Amazing! We have done it once, but now want to do it multiple times. I believe that 5 times is beyond anything reasonable, especially shooting your own video! You are an inspiration. Maybe "inspiration" is not the right word for encouraging hikers to do Mt Defiance, it may be better said that you are a "perspiration", since you make us all want to go out and test our limits.
This summer, when we have more daylight, we are going to try 3-4 trips in 24, though I will be happy to get 2 and see where it goes from there.

thanks for the post, it is "Perspirating".
