Went today to the shore with my family - we hiked Chapman Beach to Bird Rocks, then drove around the ford and walked most of Cannon Beach. It was very nice day, forecast called for 46F but it was probably closer to 60F
One Sun good, two Suns better
Bird Rocks, Sea Lion Rocks, and Tillamook Rock Lighthouse
Lots of Sand Quarters, Sand Dimes and Sand Pennies
...and some foreign currency
By the time we got to Haystack Rock, the tide got pretty low and we could see lots of anemones in tidal pools
The Needles
Due south, there was some haze from the waves, but looking north and west horizon was perfectly clear
We came to one of the two rocks on the far right in this picture
Cave/arch in the big rock - pretty interesting place. The gulls were not very happy with us on their fishing grounds
Going back
Happy New Year everyone

Agreed! I love that part of the coast.
Re: Cannon Beach and Chapman Beach
Did you see any sea stars in the tidal pools or are they all gone?
Re: Cannon Beach and Chapman Beach
No, we didn't see sea stars this time. It was "zero" tide (not very low) and we left a couple hours before that, probably water level didn't get low enough. Or maybe they just like rainy weather - one time on a wet day dozens of sea stars literally crawled out of the water, and climbed high on the rocks.viking wrote:Did you see any sea stars in the tidal pools or are they all gone?
