The FS had no interest in preserving it when a outside group got it on the register. The ladder was carried in when the first trap was put over the roof about 6 years ago. Even though we had permission to trap the building the FS came in later and pulled it off. We came back later when the FS were all on the same page and put another trap on and stashed the ladder east of the building. This building had running water, heat exchange for hot water from a wood stove and from the fireplace. Was the model that was suppose to be used for other guard stations. The design cost so much to build that it was never replicate at any other site. It is one of kind.

That's kind of weird that the ladder was so well hidden (otherwise it's almost a certainty I would've seen it on an earlier visit. I eat lunch there most every time). All those years and it just suddenly reappeared. It definitely did not look like a ladder that had been out in the elements for a number of years.
