Shorthorn Trail snow hike

Post by drm » November 30th, 2014, 4:16 pm

Three of us drove to Morrison Camp on the south side of Mt Adams and hiked up the Shorthorn Trail a ways. A few inches of snow at the bottom and progressively more as we went up. When we lost the trail in the snow, we just headed uphill a bit further to find a place with views at about 5800'. It was in the high teens when we started and warmed a bit as we went higher, so there definitely was an inversion.

The trailhead at Morrison Camp. Definitely an AWD/4WD drive.

Our beautiful lunch spot. Almost no wind up there, a bit more down low.

Thanks, Dean - I soooo wanted to get out today and be in the new snow, but life intervened... nice to enjoy vicariously through your pics!

Tom :)
