Ron, thanks for the info on the plaque!

Micro spikes made the paved switch backs a breeze, but some of the tourists were still asking me if they
could make it up to the 'top' without them

Thanks for all the replies guys! :)

Looks like we just missed each other Sunday morning Eric. More snow in the basin than up on top of Larch. Wasn't the change in conditions amazing as you stepped over the ridge separating the Multnomah Falls Trail from the creek!

@ Jack, looks like we just missed you up on Larch too, would have been a chance to reprise our winter meeting up there of a few years ago!

Dang Guy, would have been fun to bump into you guys! Bumped into Jack and crew up on Larch a few years ago too!

Wish I had the time Sunday to get up to Sherrard Pt for those crisp views, you guys are all stars! :)

Looks like a fun trip! Hitting that Christmas trail with snow is just so ideal. :)

Actually saw someone wearing Chuck Taylors up Hamilton (still well below the falls) on Sunday, as we came down in spikes. Wished her good luck. Heh...

I love how you took a picture of people walking around the gate

Might have to go up to that X-mas Trail for a post Turkey Day Waddle.

I was up there the day before and the flood gates were open when we arrived. Herds of people were trying to make their way up to the bridge sliding out along the way. I was called a cheater as I blew by everyone with my micro-spikes. We hardly saw anyone beyond the bridge and those who were, were heading back. On my return trip there were only a few people at the bridge and I found the gates locked. A ranger that was standing nearby said someone had taken a bad fall and dislocated their shoulder so they locked the gates. :?

Nice pictures and report Eric, thanks. I have never been to the X-mas Trail....something new for me to do this holiday season! :)

Hey GH, I believe it was in the mid 40's today at MFL, I'm guessing the ice has been scoured out but a first had report would be good to be sure :)
