Pinnacle Saddle (Mount Rainier)

Post by weathercrazy » October 27th, 2014, 7:53 am

From October 5th, 2014.

Another hike I had done before, but is worth doing over and over and over...

All pics from this trip:

This trail is short but steep. 3.7 miles (including add on) and 1,250' gain

Pinnacle Peak above the trail, can you spot the person up there??

Here, this is easier...

This trail is rocky in a lot of areas, pretty rugged when you think of trails say in the gorge?

Still, the views really open up after only a little climb.

Seems the fall colors are fading into the winter black and white...

As soon as you get the saddle, views open up to the Tatoosh, Goat Rocks, Mt. Adams and even Mt. St. Helens and Hood.

A little tarn which was almost gone...

I can't recall how many photos I took heading down with this in view...

Here's a look back from Paradise to Pinnacle Peak and saddle...

Great pics as usual, Tyler. I especially love this one, with its juxtaposition of the black and white of the mountain with the colors of the trail.

I've never summited Pinnacle for that reason. So much loose shale, plus I'm always by myself. If I were to fall, I'd be screwed!
