Arriving early in the evening we walked a short ways down the No Name Creek trail. This provides the only view of the Chateau from it's best side.
Farther down, it has the only covered foot bridge I've ever seen
Of course the main attraction is the cave. There is a 90 minute tour led by a ranger.

That trail connects to the Big Tree loop to see the largest douglas fir in Oregon
The next day we left for the coast. This is Harris Beach State Park
Next was Arch Rock
After dinner we visited the Dean Creek Elk Reserve 3 miles east of Reedsport at dusk, run by the BLM
The last hike, the next morning, was the Oregon Dunes Trail, which is in the Oregon Dunes
National Recreation Area, which covers a long stretch of the coast up to Reedsport.
The trail starts by going down a large dune
It then leads into a forest - pine trees growing in the sand
Then you emerge into coastal grasses
And finally to the beach
The area is known for its snowy plovers, but here are some seagulls and a pelican
