Mirror Lake, Eagle Cap

Post by Titogoeshiking » September 20th, 2014, 8:56 pm

Hi,
my best friend and I planned on backpacking up to Ice lake but due to a fire in the area we had to change our plans. We decided to go to Lostine and backpack up the East fork to Mirror lake in the Eagle cap wilderness then out on the West fork of the Lostine river. This turned out to be a wonderful experience! We were very lucky to have weather in our favor. Our dogs Tito and Rudy loved the trip too.

I was there a couple years ago. I am now remembering it from your pictures, thanks :) And that was my first backpack trip in late 1960s.

Haven't heard from Tito recently. Good to see he can do Wallowas trip. Amazing such a tiny dog can do that :D Very cute pictures of him.

My photos don't do the area justice. I really think it is one of the most beautiful places in the pacific northwest.
We want to go back next year and spend more time there. There are over 20 lakes in the area!

Thanks Jerry! Tito is an amazing little guy. He does better than I do!

Nice! What night were you there? We were camped at Sunshine Lake right next to Mirror on Thursday - such a beautiful area!

I had a trip planned to the same area in a week but it is falling through - thanks for taking me there!

We camped at Mirror lake on Thursday night. We didn't even see Sunshine lake....next time we will camp for a few nights so we have time to do some day hikes in the area.
We really lucked out with the weather. We heard that it was super windy the night before with a little rain.
