So we opted to try a hike closer to home today. However I think it took longer to get to this TH then it does for us to get to Mt. Hood from home. Seriously the longest road ever then even longer gravel road up heh. Rooster Rock Trail was a bit more grueling that I had anticipated but we did it.
The lookout was really neat. It's the first one I've ever been too. I was pleased to see it was opened and we had it to ourselves to enjoy for a quick lunch. The only downside was the flies. They were everywhere at the lookout. Inside, outside you name it. So many of them. But we didn't let it get us down. After lunch we headed back out and ran into another couple heading in. The only people we saw all day long. It's a great area but after driving there, I really understand why it seems under utilized.
All in all a nice way to spend our Sunday.

Nice report, I haven't been there
Little black biting flies? If that's what you experienced, I hate those.

I didn't get bit by any. They were just loud and big. There was a ton of them.

yeah, the big ones not so bad
the little ones - bite you multiple places at the same time - I become a swatting epileptic seizure person - only solution is to walk briskly and never stop for even 5 seconds
