I did a snowshoe up to Coyote Wall today. Followed some ski tracks most of the way, only had to break my own trail the last couple
of hundred yards, though skis don't make the best snowshoe trail.

Gorgeous shots! Any early season wildflowers up there?
Re: Coyote Wall Snowshoe
I hope that skier wasn't planning on riding their ski track back down the trail! It gets difficult when a nicely laid up-track becomes a cratered out down-track after being snowshoed.
I've always thought the Catherine Creek area would be a great place to ski after a foot of snow. But I bet that doesn't happen very often, and I'd have no way of getting out there if it even did happen, it being across the Gorge.

Believe it or not, I barely ever ride a mountain bike.

Beautiful, Dean!
And thanks for helping the many of us trapped far away from the gorge get a vicarious fix. What a difference a week makes.

Brilliant idea to hit Coyote Wall the one time you're essentially guaranteed not to see mountain bikers. Gorgeous.
Re: Coyote Wall Snowshoe
They came straight down the fall line, not the road - and were long gone by the time I got there anyway. But my snowshoe tracks weren't really going any deeper than their ski tracks. All this moisture - plus the drenching due this coming week, should make for fantastic flowers. What do they say? February snow brings March flower? No? - something like that.

If it wasn't for the horrible drive to the TH, your hike would be truly envious of those of us locked down in Portland this past weekend. Nice TH pic.
