We wanted to head up to Mt Hood over the weekend and were debating between McNeil Point and Paradise Park. Since we are not all that familiar with McNeil Point when it comes to camping spots, we choose Paradise Park. Then came the decision whether to bring snow shoes or not. After looking at the pictures from VanMarmot's thread on Yocum Ridge, Ann thought that we didn't need them, but I suggested that we carry them just in case. They were not needed, but made a great prop for my night pictures. The solid snow started about 5,500 ft elevation and really wasn't that bad at all up to Split Rock. Since we were the only ones up there, so we camped on the snow at Split Rock. It was a clear night with a bright moon making Paradise Park seem almost like day time. We hiked up Paradise Park Trail 778 from the Kiwanis Camp along Hwy 26. Not much in the way of fall colors with a few Vine Maples turned yellow along the lower elevations of the trail. There were plenty of mushrooms.

Pretty nice to be able to camp next to split rock in mid October. Was it windy?

Incredible night pictures! I can even tell that was the Ross Island Bridge.

Jerry, no wind and we only saw one runner at the start of the hike.

Actually, it's the new CRC. They built an island for it. It only cost an extra 4 billion.miah66 wrote:adamschneider wrote:Ummmm... that's the Glenn Jackson Bridge.Born2BBrad wrote:Incredible night pictures! I can even tell that was the Ross Island Bridge.
