Summit Trail 08-03-13

Post by amya » August 5th, 2013, 7:56 am

On Saturday we hiked Summit trail. Got the usual view of Hood.

We were surprised to see the gathering of horses at Ski Bowl, I think a new attraction this year – they do trail and carriage rides.

We left from the sno-park and headed towards Trillium. We branched off and took the Powerline trail – never did that before. Interesting trail – mostly for biking but it made for an interesting hike. We were evaulating it for a potential snowshoe route this year - not sure abuot that! It was a bit steep in places. We branched off and took Optimator Trail which was shady and which also had lots of elevation gain and loss.

Thanks for posting, amya! There's supposed to be a trail to the top of Multorpor Mountain that splits off the Summit loop on the east side of the mountain. Doug Lorain describes it in one of his guides -- an informal trail, so maybe easy to miss... did you spot anything along your hike?

Not far up the split from Summit Trail (less than 1/2 mile) we did see a trail that went up - looked pretty steep. It wasn't marked, but we figured that could be it.
