1. Love that moon.
2. Was the log hollow?

Love the moon shot. We were trying to sleep under the same full moon and it was BRIGHT!
The mountains are calling and I must go.

Hi, thanks for your description and great pics. We are thinking of doing this same trip over Labor Day Weekend. Were there several campsite options at the lake? You mentioned about 5 groups, and I'm wondering if there are more camps than that? Thanks!!

Hi Ethan,

There are five main groups of sites - most of them could hold 6 or 8 roomy tents easily, so there's room for a large number of people, but if there are more than 5 groups, everyone will have to get pretty friendly.

There is a 6th sort of marginal site, if you keep going past the main sites the trail climbs up to a little rock overlook of the lake. From this overlook there's a faint use trail heading off left and down to the lake. There's a small camp there. My friend Warren cleared out about 30 cans from it, so hopefully it's still in good shape now.

Very pretty little lake and the swimming was great. Have fun and post pics if you go!

Thank you for a great TR! I needed to look at a map to figure out where you had been... Now there is yet another area to explore, it looks very beautiful and varied.
Some people are really fit at eighty; thankfully I still have many years to get into shape…

Thanks for bumping this up, Peder - missed it the first time!

Nice report, Payslee -- sounds like a most excellent trip! It always gives me flashbacks to this trip back in the day when we spent a LOONG first night at Upper Twin Lake trying to figure out WHAT animal was thumping around outside our tent, violently tearing at the brush...! We imagined Sasquatch... or possibly a stray grizzly who had wandered down from the Yukon...

We camped at the excellent site near the inlet stream, on the west side of the lake. Neat area!
