Stacker Butte, WA 2/8

Click on the pictures, they're beautiful when full....

Let's see, someplace wide and open. I wanna fill my lungs with space.

Ah, yes, perfect.
PHstackerbutte13.jpg
Make it remote and rarely traveled. With a Wyoming feel.
PHstackerbutte1.jpg
Maybe a couple rolling hills, some well-placed trees. Fog thick as a theater curtain.
PHstackerbutte2.jpg
Now, make it terrifically cold and flock all the grass with hoarfrost.
PHstackerbutte15.jpg
Prairie pixie sticks,
PHstackerbutte7.jpg
they set off the rock so well.
PHstackerbutte8.jpg
Then again, the rock sets itself off.
PHstackerbutte9.jpg
Throw in some ice monsters for fun.
PHstackerbutte10.jpg
Make sure others experience the beauty, too.
PHstackerbutte6.jpg
When I get to the top of the ridge, let the fog recede a little and lap and roll at the sides like sleepy waves.
PHstackerbutte11.jpg
Level it off at the line of my vision, make it feel like I'm bobbling dreamily on the surface of a vertiginous white ocean.
PHstackerbutte12.jpg
Dim the lights at nightfall so softly and sweetly, the fog seems lit from within.
PHstackerbutte14.jpg
That was spectacular, thanks.

Lovely set of pics. Refreshing to see something with wide open spaces.

Very thoughtful of you to leave chapstick for the deer. Do deer have lips?

Have a great doggy meet-n-greet tomorrow.

Waffle,

Hey, your lips would be chapped, too, if you ate dry grass all day! I spotted one leaping and bounding into the falling darkness when I took the access road back out. She didn't stop for photos; must've been chapped.

We will think of you tomorrow on the trail. Have a great one!

Nice report Anna, thanks! I love that little hike, one of my favorites. Fun to see it all frosty and foggy and such.

Great shots, a place I must visit this winter.
But I especially loved your poetic prose, clearly you are a writer at heart or .....maybe in real life.
Always like your humor and attitude, you must be a cowgirl!!

I only pet cows now and it's been a long time since I qualified as a "girl," but I can still sit a horse, so I'll take it.
