McDowell Creek County Park and Soda Creek Falls

Post by beebonnet » January 21st, 2013, 9:32 pm

Took a nice little two-fer hike with the Obsidians last week to McDowell Creek County Park in Linn County (near Sweet Home). It was frosty and a bit icy on the many stairsteps on the trail to the falls, but a gorgeous day with beautiful falls to ogle. Both hikes are shorties and easily done in the same day. We hiked in McDowell Creek first, then had a festive mexican lunch in Sweet Home and hit the Soda Creek trail in the afternoon.

Nice flow on Soda Creek. I was there a couple of years ago at the end of the summer and it was hardly flowing. Next time I'll have to get down there when it's wetter out. I was just at McDowell Creek County Park last November, I should have gone to Soda Creek too. McDowell is a neat little park with some nice trails and waterfalls. Thanks for sharing your pictures. :)
