8/25/12 - Goat Rocks florgasm!

Post by adamschneider » August 25th, 2012, 7:25 pm

Please pardon the cell-phone photos, but I'm posting this from the side of U.S. 12 near Randle. :) [UPDATE: replaced with real camera photos, and added a few more.]

This was my first trip to Goat Rocks, so I can't say for sure whether the wildflowers were at their "peak," but HOLY CRAP!

They are all incredible.

Looks pretty near peak bloom to me. Were these taken nearing dusk?

No, those are all from between 10:00 and 4:00. I headed back down into the trees around 5:00, so I didn't really get any dusky pictures.

The one with the paintbrush and asters (just about the only place without lupines!) was taken on the west side of Goat Ridge in the shadow of a steep cliff, so it has a twilight-like appearance.

Of course, but they look exactly like every other damn macro shot I've ever taken. :) Yesterday was about the wide view.
