Since we were promised only an hour or two of dry weather early today we decided to check out our own back yard! We live only half a mile (as the crow flies) from the Equestrian trailhead at the end of Homan Road that leads down & into Oxbow Park. This trailhead also has the advantage of having no pay booth

It descends from about 700' first to Elk Meadows at about 400' & then on down to the Sandy River on the West side of the Oxbow.
(The Other) Elk Meadows
There were several large fir trees in the river probably from the recent high water events of the last 2 weeks.
We walked along the river bank towards the boat Ramp.
After the Boat Ramp there was a trail closed sign, we continued on anyway but soon found that there was a legitimate reason for the sign! The trail & all the ground around it was gone forever & there was only river!
The riverside road through the campground was also closed but we found our way through the empty campground & back to the River on the other side.
We walked along the river bed for a while was we made our way around to the East side of the the Oxbow.
Several sections of the Riverside trail between junctions K & J on the Oxbow Park map have now disappeared into the river!

At the end of the line we considered bushwhacking up the 300' back to Elk Meadows which was directly above us but it had started to rain by now & it looked like we would have to negotiate a rock band so we played it safe & stuck to the trail.
