Woke up to a couple of inches of new snow at home this morning and decided to go cross country skiing. I went out of the Pineside Snow Park, north of Trout Lake. I skied the Hole-in-the-Ground loop, but extended it's northern part to the Gotchen Creek Guard Station. This is an historic structure built in 1909! The entire loop was about 9.7 miles and gained about 1000 feet.

Looks likemaybe you could sleep there?

I don't think it's open for public use. I saw a Forest Service post about it being open for public tours - for a few days of the year. Being that old, it may not have utilities or may have fire safety issues.retired jerry wrote:Looks like maybe you could sleep there?

They restored the Guard Station a couple of years ago and I got to peek around inside. It looked like mice and other critters had spent a lot of time in there.
