Freeze Dryer Cooperative?

Post by madrone » February 23rd, 2024, 8:49 am

Is anybody interested in forming an Oregon freeze dryer cooperative where we could prepare our own food for hiking or prepper storage? I've never done anything quite like this before but I am willing to explore it if there's enough interest.

That is a really good idea. I don't think I would participate but it sounds like fun.

Most of the food hubs in the area have commercial kitchens. Maybe they would be interested in hosting your freeze drier?

I am interested, in concept, depending on cost, location, etc. I make and dehydrate much of my backpacking food but would prefer freeze-dried as it rehydrates easier (dehydrated peas are the worst). But, I've never used a freeze dryer, so I don't know how difficult it is.
