Sad to hear about the spread, hopefully we'll be surprised by what's left standing. According to the fire maps, the Big Eddy picnic area is still intact. I only made it down into the South Fork/Memaloose Creek area once and had to turn around at the first bridge due to a time constraint. I sure worry about new erosion from the fire limiting access into the already narrow user trail in that rugged canyon.

The much needed rain should be adequate to contain the fire, as NOAA put it: "SUCH COOL DAMP WEATHER WILL GO FAR IN QUIETING WILDFIRE ACTIVITY." Being optimistic I'd say the fire should basically be out by next weekend. Cleanup will probably be another story. Hopefully ODOT will be able to stabilize the steep canyon walls above 224, othewise there is going to be some large debris flows/rockslides blocking the highway for months (years? ) to come.
