School Canyon trail, east side of Badger Creek Wilderness 10/11/14. Oak woods were quite gold but the best color was still ahead (this or next weekend), if these parts don't get too much rain...
2014 Fall Color thread -- sorry

No pictures on the computer yet, but I saw color yesterday along streams on Hood @ 2-4000 ft, and then when I hiked Elk cove, the colors up there are almost done but there were some left over for sure. Tomorrow I'm headed up the clackamas to see what it is like up there

Upper clackamas area is closed off because of the fire earlier this season.....
so I went to Hood again at Still creek road to get some creek shots. Lotta yellow and some oranges and reds.

I hope some color is left when I get home next week! Right now I'm in Ohio, reveling in the colorful foliage on my eldest son's 4 acres. After a trip to Virginia and back last weekend, and touring the SW Ohio area yesterday, my son and I have both decided that the very best fall foliage is right around his house! I'll post a couple of shots after I get home. I'm missing the larch, though!

I did a short hike along the Old Salmon River Trail this morning. The colors are past peak and the trees have taken a beating with all the stormy weather we've had, but there are still some nice patches. The bigleaf maple in the center of this photo is totally bare, while the vine maple around it was still going.

It's a bit of a drive, but the Bitterroot Range is absolutely on fire right now! The entire stretch from about Superior (Montana) to Wallace (Idaho), along I-90, looked a lot like this two days ago:
