Joerunner - looks like one could make one out of a plastic jug. How sharp (or rounded) are the edges of the tines?

I bet you could.
The edges and recessed ends (about 5 inches deep and slightly tapered) are rather blunt. I guess that keeps the stems from wedging in and the berries from becoming damaged. What I like about this device is that it has a lip built into the reservoir that prevents the stored berries from dropping out when your going for more. I think I paid 11 bucks for this on amazon.
