I thought your trail name was given to you. You don't get to choose. If it appears you don't like a potential name it's more likely to be applied to you :D

I will never forget our first hike with mayhem where he thought the name(theradpotato) was pronounced, "there da potato"

Whatever you choose/is chosen for you I will stand by it :D Sh*t I got Thum in like 7th grade and it was kids who thought if I stood at a distance I was perfectly blocked out if they placed their thumb in front of one eye and closed the other. I had a tall skinny friend back then who some called the middle finger, but it never lasted.

Or you could use the nickname generator :D (sadly there apparently is one of those  :D

http://www.coolnicknames.net/results/

this is the list it came up with for people named Joe: I liked "big nasty" and "jesus" myself :D

joefizzle
the j man
the hammer
josephus
jo mama
lorena
joye
joe pa
jovanni
j.j
josephine the flying machine
jesus
big joe
slippery butter
spider monkey
jofus
little u
geko
drop in king
j.j
joe-daddy
joey underpants
jundies
joe
joe the terrerist
joe the show
brown man
giuseppe
ice box
big nasty
jo3y
joesheep
fat baby joe
ho joe
james
joe joe
joester
lightining
lightning
mikel t

And since RJ seems to like the idea so much I looked up Jerry too. He doesn't have as many options :D . My faves were the three question marks and just "jerry". Seems like they need a little creative help at the old generator:

jerbear
???
jerry
jerbear
jerjin
jerrylee
jerbil
jerjer
jerrymeh

I do have a blog going: http://joehikes.tumblr.com (also linked in my signature)

I think you can make up your own trail name if you want but what's the fun in that? I reserve the right to reject ones I don't like though :)

Sean, i came up with theradpotato in 7th grade too. Maybe a new nickname will help me feel more like an adult. haha

If I recall correctly from the playground rules when I grew up, if you ever just once acknowledge a nickname by responding when you hear it, then it has stuck and will be hell to get rid of until those around you tire of it. Whatever you get called, accept it with good grace and people will warm to you and it will become an endearment, not a millstone around your neck.
