The snotel near Aneroid Lake at 7400 feet went to zero 2 days ago, which, btw, is 5 days later than last year (i.e. not much difference). Ice Lake is about 500 feet higher. So probably a fair amount of snow in sheltered and north-facing areas, but some melted spots too.

Timberline Trail from Timberline Lodge to Paradise Park:

Lots of large patches of snow, some up to 8-10 feet deep. The running average was about 2 feet of snow left. The patchy snow ends about .5 mile before the descent into ZigZag Canyon.

Lots of patchy snow at Paradise Park, but it is reachable.

Seems Coldwater Peak is entirely melted out, as of yesterday. Also looked like the traverse from there over to Margaret would be mostly clear at least until you rounded The Dome.

Back on the trail, again...

I follow a guy on Instagram that is a ranger in that area. He said that the trail to Ice Lake is clear :)
We went last year around this time http://cjsjaunts.blogspot.com/2013/07/w ... 3-day.html and the only snow we encountered was pretty patchy (a few banks on the peninsula that we used to keep some drinks cold and part of the trail across the lake that lead to Matterhorn had snow on it.

Hiked to Elk Meadows and Gnarl Ridge a week ago today, 7/20. Snow free and (surprisingly) bug free as well!
