The "island" of ice was slowly spinning from the current, pretty cool!

Beautiful, TJ.

How far in did you go? After looking at all the icefall pictures yesterday it occurred to me that the most elusive amazing one of all would be Oneonta - although you'd need arctic kayaking / ice climbing levels of gear to get there...

Thanks! I went in the whole way until it was chest deep. I went into Oneonta three times in the past 5 days. This is from the second time and conditions weren't what I was chasing. I got those conditions on the third day (Monday) and I had to break through the ice to walk up the creek.

Those photos are coming soon. I spent about an hour in there each time. I would've spent more but I had other obligations that I needed to attend to.

It might not be from a hike, but it is from the only outing I have taken in a while.

As some of you know, Whale Creek near Indian Henry Campground, is my most favorite place in the world. I captured two shots of this creek when it was nearly completely frozen over and I'm attempting to fantasia-ize these compositions.

I tried to get my Sony a500 as low to the frozen creek bed as possible, using my Manfrotto 290 tripod. I'm going for the enchanting, mystical look and feel, and using this depth of field, trying to make the area life size rather than 2 feet wide.

Maybe with a little dry ice and a few drops of water might give it a more fantasia look. What do you think?
