Butte Creek Falls Closed

The road to Butte Creek Falls is closed due to logging. Abiqua Falls is accessible.

Thanks for the heads up—was going to go there this weekend.

Can you describe where the road is closed? At the Crooked/400 intersection? Thanks!

There's a sign at the intersection and a closed gate maybe 1/4 mile beyond the intersection.

Too bad I didn't check this site before driving all the way over there. :(
Supposedly closed until Memorial day but by the looks of that gate (which appears pretty new???) it might be an on-again/off-again situation. Hard to imagine they'd install that beast just for a short closure.

I checked out Abiqua for the first time... pretty awesome!

Hi Steve, can you shed some light on the road down to Abiqua Falls. Several reports I have read say no problem for a car(low clearence) and other say 4 wheel vehicle only.

Thanks
Randy

Hi Randy,

I can tell you that I personally have gone to Abiqua roughly 8 times or so in a Hyundai Elantra (2 wheel drive, NOT high clearance). I do however drive very slowly and carefully over the final stretch of road.

Welcome by the way.

We went down in a Dodge Caliber just fine. There were a couple of places with some loose rock that caused us to spin a little coming back up.

For a different point of view, my girlfriend is a little peaved at a scratch in her car door. I think I'll be doing some buffing.
