Hi - I've been spending a lot of time up at OHSU lately and I've become obsessed with figuring out what the most prominent peak on the left flank (to the west) of MSH is. (I'm not referring to Rainier peeking over the shoulder, I mean the next peak over to the left, looks like it's closer to Portland than MSH).
Looking at my map I'm thinking Goat Mtn, next to the Goat Marsh Research Natural Area. Is that right?
If so, it looks like it's on NFS land - are there any trails to the peak, and if so is it forested, or are there views?
Thanks,
Chad
What is the peak to the left of MSH as viewed from OHSU?

Goat Mountain?
In a cringe worthy moment Sally Showman on KOIN called it Rainier and said you could only see it in clear days.

Thanks! I'd never heard of PeakFinder - any advantage to getting the USA West version over the Earth version? Just the storage space required for the app?

I saw Sally Showman when I was walking around Mt Hood
I should have said something, but I didn't want to hassle her
Plus, she was with a group of women and it was too scary to say anything

Sounds like someone needs to start hiking with a wing man.retired jerry wrote:Plus, she was with a group of women and it was too scary to say anything
@scvcs76 As far as I know, size would be the only difference. I downloaded Peakfinder USA west on my wife's iPhone because of the smaller app size.

Funny, I've always wondered about that peak too. Now we both know what it's called
Checked in Topo and Goat Mt. is just under 5000', looks way higher than that from Portland, weird
sciency stuff at work here I suspect.
Please don't que up Weird Science on my account

Hooray! I've seen this peak from my 10th-floor office building for the last 12 years and it's always bugged me that I didn't know its name. Thank you!
