Splintercat and other mythological beasts of the forest

Wired magazine recently posted a fun article which features some fun forest creatures.

Looks like most of their info is from William T. Cox's Fearsome Creatures of the Lumberwoods (1910). I seem to remember an old thread about the origins of Splinty's name, but couldn't find it. Anyway, enjoy!

How'd I miss this thread..?? That's pretty much it, though I've always pictured a more fearsome Splintercat bounding from tree to tree... this is a bit more like Wily Coyote that I'd care to resemble...

Great article, Chase - thanks!

Tom :)
