HUGE thanks to a great PCTA crew that almost knocked this out in one day! We should finish it off Tuesday 12/16. Edan

We had two fantastic PCTA crews, and got this done in half the planned time. Planned 3 days, finished in a day and a half. Here are some photos.

We built the gabion frames at the trailhead

Parkes loved driving the toter and became a skilled driver very quickly.

It took many loads of rocks. Here's Pat driving the beast.

Handing down each of the big rocks. We formed a "bucket brigade" to move most of the big ones, then we had fun tossing the remainder.

End of Monday's work. We had solidified the base, squared out the space and set and filled 3 gabions. That's a lot for one day's work.

Day 2, Tuesday. We had to make one more gabion, this one only 12" tall. The others were 18" tall.

After filling and securing the top gabion, all the slide material went on top to form the new tread.

Tuesday's crew with the completed work. We also draped some ferns and moss on the exposed shelves to help start the revegetation.
Many thanks to Edan and Matt for assistance and technical direction and equipment support. And thousand thanks to the crews - GREAT work everyone!

Excellent work! :D

I'm constantly amazed at all the awesome stonework done generations ago that's just blended in and hidden over the decades. It's sad that half that wall finally gave out.. I didn't see a final shot from the side, did you guys attempt to redo the stonework there?

No we didn't rebuild the rock wall. We used gabions.

Really nice work, indeed. Seems to be holding up to the current freeze.
