First let me applaud the Scout Troop that was out putting up new trail junction signs in the Multnomah Falls area today, great work! I do question why the Forest Service continues to create misleading and inaccurate signs in the Gorge, however. Anyone unfamiliar with these trails would be utterly confused by the distances printed on these signs, which are not distances to destinations, but to other trail junctions.
This sign is located at the top of Wahkeena, just south of Lemmon's Viewpoint.

No doubt created by the same folks who can't count how many switchbacks there are on the paved trail up to the top of Multnomah Falls

It's funny you say that. There have been times on that trail where I've said to myself, "maybe I just don't know what a switchback is."Don Nelsen wrote:No doubt created by the same folks who can't count how many switchbacks there are on the paved trail up to the top of Multnomah Falls

Re: Brand new misleading trail sign at Wahkeena
is it 2 miles to the Larch Mountain Trail?
Re: Brand new misleading trail sign at Wahkeena
Yeah, thereabouts. The distances are to other junctions, but you'd only know that if you already knew it. There is a similar sign just east of the springs, but people long ago wrote in the word "trail". You'd think they'd have learned from that.retired jerry wrote:is it 2 miles to the Larch Mountain Trail?
