Washout on Wahkeena

Post by pablo » November 28th, 2014, 10:47 am

Another washout has formed on the short unstable section of trail just before Wahkeena Falls. Passable now but given the traffic will need to be repaired. I imagine the trail will be closed for this work to take place.

That same spot was having issues last year as well. One of my first trips up there, they had volunteer repairing the section right behind the wash out. A lot of water runs through that spot.

Forest Service is planning to work with PCTA to fix this in the next few weeks. It will be a several-day effort. Waiting for the soil to thaw! Edan

Traveled past the Wahkeena slide on Saturday. There was a good path around it protected by cones.

From across the way one could see a large section of retaining wall that had slid down to a waiting tree.

I'm pretty sure the good PCTA folks will be working on this the next couple days.
