Labor Day Weekend Backpacking Suggestions

Post by HikingPhotographer » August 24th, 2014, 11:17 am

I've screwed up my ankles during my last backpacking trip, but I still want to get out there for the long weekend.

I'm looking for something 2-4 miles in and relatively easy. Or if it's pretty flat I could go longer. Somewhere that I can just hang out a lake all day.

I did Burnt lake a few weeks ago, and while that was fine the road in is a bit worse than my little Civic likes. Before that I went up to Serene Lake, which was fantastic but longer. I ended up starting at a campground several miles from Frazier TH. Utterly gorgeous lake though.

Of course, this being labor day weekend the more obscure the lake the better. Hopefully I can find somewhere that's not completely swamped with people.

Any ideas? Car camping at a lake would be ideal, but I know that any campgrounds will be swarmed with people.
