The Ramona Falls entry says this is a 7 mile hike, but when I GPSed it yesterday with my wife, the loop (going up creekside, and down river side) was actually 8.3 round trip from the TH.

I know that a GPS unit can over-report mileage due to "signal wobble", but it probably wouldn't account for a 1.3 mileage difference, so something may be wrong. You could take a look at this page to determine where the mileage from the Field Guide and your GPS is getting off:

I just noticed that the mileage in the Field Guide for some of the Gorge hikes (the Multnomah-Wahkeena Loop is one) is a little shorter than that listed by Sullivan.

I hadn't noticed this until I was looking up some entries earlier today for the Michigan folks coming to vacation/hike in Oregon. Let's face it, I've hiked the Multnomah-Wahkeena Loop so many times that I don't bother with descriptions or maps. I could probably do it blindfold, although I'd rather not risk that!

I have a GPS track for that.

I input it into Mapsource, then delete most of the points to eliminate the "signal wobble" and it's like 3.4 miles on the river side and 3.7 miles on the creek side.

It's funny, the GPS totaled 8.3 miles for the whole loop from TH and back, and 7.9 for the actual Ramona Falls, but looking at the track the creek side was 3.5, and the river side was 3.2. Huh.

Sorry, everyone! I'm new to this GPS thing.

That is very confusing.

The GPS documentation doesn't talk about it.

When I asked Garmin about it they didn't acknowledge it. They told me to re-download software.
