I know this is probably not the right time of the year for that question but I went through a few pictures of Tom McCall Point I took last spring and I remembered these weird looking bubbles or cocoons hanging from the branches of the oak trees. Someone told me those are spider nests, but I can't find anything about it on the web.
Does someone here know what those balls are and which animal builds those?
Thanks!

oak galls?
Re: Spiderbubbles (?) on TomMcCall Point
Just googled it. That's looking good. So it's wasps not spiders. Thanks!

AKA oak apples.
Lots of them on the Lyle Cherry Orchard Trail.

Lots of different critters cause plants to form galls; on oak trees it's usually (or maybe always?) wasps.
