Do you know the name of this bird?

Post by forestkeeper » August 3rd, 2013, 10:59 pm

Hello all. I would like to add this bird photo to my flickr account, but can't seem to locate the name. Captured this photo of this bird while it was perched on a branch near the Breitenbush Lake, not too far from the PCT.

It has an orange beak with brown spots underneath, and brown wings. Thanks!

Almost every time I see an unknown shore bird, anywhere in the world, it turns out to be a spotted sandpiper...

To my inexpert eye, the bill looks too short to be a sandpiper. Compared, that is, to other sandpiper photos shown by Google.

No, it's a spotted sandpiper. Nothing else like it, especially given the location.
