North Side Mt Hood Looking Different 7/29/14

Post by BurnsideBob » July 29th, 2014, 6:17 pm

I just returned from the Eagle Cap wilderness and, from I-84 at 4 PM, Mt Hood looked different. There appeared to be a dark debris flow from the summit ridge down onto the upper Eliot Glacier. The affected area was adjacent to the Cooper Spur climbing route, which remains white.

Can someone confirm or post a photo?

Thanks.
I keep making protein shakes but they always turn out like margaritas.

Weird! Well, all I can offer would be "Before" shots. These were taken a week and a half ago...

From about 7900' on the way up Cooper Spur - July 19, 2014.

In case a little wider shot is needed - also July 19, 2014.

Look forward to seeing an "After" shot now!

Back on the trail, again...

Karl, thanks for the great photos.

I didn't notice anything unusual about the mountain when I was outbound Saturday afternoon, July 26. I shoulda stopped and shot a photo or two.

Well, I was mistaken. The North Side looks pretty typical, per this photo I took this morning from Cloud Cap Inn.
