WA State Parks hosts 1st Day Hike at Beacon Rock

Post by Ryan Ojerio » December 18th, 2014, 9:18 am

Hello Hikers,

check out this event hosted by our friends at Beacon Rock. Their staff are really knowledgeable about the park, particularly the unique history of the rock, its trail and the CCC crews that built a lot of the park facilities. The hike is sure to be interesting and informative.

First Day Hike - Beacon Rock

Jan 1st 2015 at 10:00am:

The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission and the Staff and friends of Beacon Rock State Park invite the public to kick off the New Year with a hike to the top of Beacon Rock. Ring in 2015 by connecting with nature, enjoying the beautiful views of the Columbia River Gorge and be part of a national effort to share stewardship for natural, cultural and recreational resources.

The hike at Beacon Rock State Park is a moderate two mile hike along Beacon Rock trail, beginning at the Beacon Rock trailhead kitchen shelter. The hike is open to participants of all ages. Taking along pets is not recommended, however, friendly dogs are allowed if on-leash at all times. Refreshments are provided. Participants are suggested to take along warm clothes, water and snacks. Admission is free. The Discover Pass will not be required in Washington State Parks on January 1st. For more information, call (509) 427-8265.

Beacon Rock State Park is a 5,100-acre year-round camping park with historic significance dating back hundreds of years, cultural significance dating back thousands of years and geologic significance dating back tens of thousands of years. Meet the park staff, enjoy the beautiful Gorge scenery and connect with others who worship the outdoor recreation experience.
