Beacon Rock - new trail opening ceremony - Saturday 25th

Post by Ryan Ojerio » October 22nd, 2014, 10:36 am

Hello Hikers,

Looking for something to do this rainy Saturday (Oct. 25th)? You're invited to join us at Beacon Rock State Park for the official opening of the new River to Rock connector trail. We'll be meeting at 11 am at the Doetsch Ranch Picnic Area for refreshments, then we'll walk over to the trailhead near Woodard Creek for the ribbon cutting. From there we'll hike up the 1/3 mile trail to a view (hopefully) of Beacon Rock. Folks can continue on to hike the rock, or return to their cars.

Please RSVP so I can get enough refreshments: https://www.wta.org/events/River%20to%2 ... %20Opening

The trail was built by volunteers with Washington Trails Association including two Youth Volunteer Vacations, a team of HP employees and several day trips crews over the course of two seasons. Here are some pictures in reverse chronological order.

- I hope to see you there! Ryan

You might want to mention that a day use fee or Discovery Pass is necessary to park at the state park, and that Skamania County Transit can get folks there without parking hassles.

Yes a Discover Pass is required to park at Beacon Rock. I think the weekend service for Skamania Transit ended on Oct. 15.

This was a great little trail segment, Ryan, and a nice additional to BRSP's trail system. Here are a few of our pictures from our hike there last weekend.
