Volunteer Trail work at Red Mt. Fire Lookout - Indian Heaven

Post by Ryan Ojerio » July 25th, 2014, 11:17 am

Volunteers Wanted!

Join us for one or both days as we enjoy the Red Mt. Fire Lookout as our basecamp for the weekend! Saturday night features an optional campout and potluck that you won't want to miss, even if you just plan to volunteer on one of the days. This popular trail is located in the southwestern portion of Indian Heaven Wilderness; from Red Mountain you get a stunning panoramic view from Rainier all the way to Mt. Hood.

Our volunteer project is to work on the Indian Racetrack trail doing brushing and drainage clearing from the lookout working down towards the lower trailhead. WTA provides the tools and leadership, plus post work party refreshments. You can also earn a NW Forest Day pass for your service. Two days earns you a free annual pass.

PS - Check out this awesome trip report with beautiful photos of the trail and views from our basecamp site: http://www.portlandhikers.org/forum/vie ... rack+trail
