Goat Creek Valley - Goat Rocks Wilderness

Post by miah66 » September 15th, 2014, 10:37 am

From my recent trip around Snowgrass Flats Loop, I kept looking down at the meadows along Goat Creek below Goat Lake. Has anyone gone down there?

I wonder how hard it would be to access it by bushwhacking up from the creek below, or even getting down the steep slopes from above. Google Earth shows the "normal" trail approach not too far cross country from this meadow area.

Looks like a lovely spot, and most likely it wouldn't be nearly as crowded as some of the other places up higher. Probably pretty squishy early in the year, but now...probably ideal.

In "High Trails" by Robert H Wills the map in the back shows a trail that follows Goat Creek all the way up. Don't Know what is left of the trail since the book was published in 1962. I have been wanting to check this out for a couple of years, but I have not been back to the Goat Rocks area.
