Start: Starvation Creek Trailhead Parking: Large, paved lot. ... Highway right (West) for 1/4 mile to the Starvation Ridge Cutoff Trail. Followed this for 1/2 mile to Starvation ... Actually, yes. This was a beautiful, challenging hike with amazing views in different directions.

That's strange, I don't recall any poison oak on that trail.

But seriously, even in summer I've never seen any, although I do recognize that part of the gorge at that elevation it can be vicious, e.g. just east of Starvation it's dense.

The cutoff is closed for hazardous conditions after the fire. The Starvation Cutoff is actually closed because of a washout where some trees ... the cutoff junction. The fire didn't go east of the main Defiance trail ridge. Nice to see the fall color starting up there! I think Defiance is maybe ...
